For moms like me, budgeting can be a tedious task, especially if you just have an average (or even below average) income. There are no rules except to make sure that the kids are eating good, getting the right education and you are paying the monthly bills (whose bulk is the rent or monthly mortgage anyway).
Recently I have been contemplating on how I could improve our family’s monthly budget. How could a mother help the family in a very simple way which would be effective enough to be able to put food on the table, pay the utilities, pay the credit cards (and avoid the hassles of late charges and too much interest), while at the same time be able to save a few bucks for emergencies?
I started using a very simple but easy to use budget spreadsheet. Basically, one would just enter the overall monthly income of the family and all the monthly expenses like food, utility bills, rent or mortgage, insurance payments, loan payments and car and transportation expenses.
The result is fantastic! Any mom could easily compare what she had programmed and what her actual expenses are. It is very user-friendly and certainly motivating to stick to the budget and live within our means.budgets, spending tips
